Working With Color

  • Learning how to set the white balance on your camera can make your pictures pop by removing color casts.
  • Choosing a between color spaces can make your pictures look great online or vibrant when printed.
  • Adjusting white balance manually allows you to add warm, natural-looking skin tones into your portraits..
  • Choosing and adjusting picture styles is a great way to adjust contrast and color in your images and cut down on the need to edit them.

In this workshop, you will learn how colors can be adjusted in your camera and how you can use settings to create different looks in your pictures. I’ll also show you how to set the white balance in your camera so that colors look natural in different lighting situations.

One of the things I really like about digital photography is how easy it is to manipulate color. With your digital camera, you can set your camera to compensate for the different lighting situations you find yourself in, as well as being able to set your camera up to give you the look you want in your color or black-and-white pictures.

Subjects include:

  • Using standard white balance options
  • Setting white balance by Kelvin value
  • Setting a custom or preset white balance
  • Fine tuning white balance
  • Bracketing white balance
  • Choosing sRGB or Adobe RGB Color Space
  • Adjusting Color With Picture Styles
  • Playing with the monochrome picture style
  • Defining your own picture styles
